Auto Mechanics Colleges help you find a career as a mechanic.
My husband loves to repair cars. He used to have a 1969 Ford Maverick that he would tinker with on occasion. It was his everyday car, so he had to make sure it was in tip-top shape every day. We now have a vehicle that is about 14 years old and hasĀ a great deal of wear and tear. We’ve made our own repairs in the past, and while I’m usually there for simple moral support, my husband has done exceptionally well with exhaust and engine problems, diagnosing and repairing electrical issues, and more! The other day I suggested he enroll in one of the auto mechanics colleges in the area.
If you have a love of cars, problem solving, and working with your hands, auto mechanics colleges may be the right choice for you. Many technical schools offer auto mechanic courses with hands on training. These auto mechanics colleges usually have programs in the levels of associates degree or certificates. The certificate programs are typically shorter programs compared to the associates degree, which also includes courses in English, mathematics, chemistry, and computers. They focus on actual mechanics and diagnostics, and some programs actually offer specializations in specific parts of auto repair including brakes, transmissions, engine repair, etc..
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, graduates from auto mechanics colleges can find hourly wages ranging from $11-$26/hour depending on the experience and location of employment. It does provide a steady career, as the number of cars purchased, wrecked, and rebuilt continues to grow each year.
