Associates Degrees On line

Associates Degrees On line are a Great Way to Kick Off Your College Career

Not everyone knows what they want to do right away, out of high school, or even if they’ve had a few years before they start their college education.  Maybe you’ve got a few ideas, or maybe you just know you need to get a degree.  One of the best ways to proceed is to start by looking at associate’s degrees on line.

What is an Associate’s Degree?

Like most college level programs, the actual coursework will vary some from school to school.  But essentially, an associate’s degree is the ‘first two years’ of a bachelor’s degree, and covers the core classes you’ll need for your bachelor’s–the stuff you do aside from your major.  So associates degrees on line prepare you for your bachelors without your having to choose your major or worry about taking the wrong classes.  You’ll take things like English Composition, a 100 level college Math course, Western Civ, a science, course, and so on.

Choosing to go with your associate’s degree first is an advantage in several ways.  First, associate’s degrees typically transfer better than individual credits for classes, so associates degrees online are a better choice than just taking a random class here and there and hoping to consolidate later.

Second, there are a ton of affordable options out there for associates degrees on line.  For colleges that specialize in core classes–like community colleges–expenses are much lower.  So you can get your associates degree, and then finish your bachelor’s at the more-expensive college of your dreams.

Choosing An Online Program

Whatever program you decide on should be one offered by a school that’s regionally accredited–this is especially important if you are considering transferring your credits toward a bachelor’s degree.  Also, if you are planning on a BA or a BS (and know which) you can take electives that will further your progress.
